Salut les coureuses de jupons,
J’espère que vous allez bien. Cela fait un mois que je n’ai pas posté d’article. Fin août, mon collègue Sebastian me disait "Tu postes tellement, je n’arrive plus à suivre !". J’ai bien fait de profiter du mois d’août car la rentrée m’a bien occupée et j’ai de nouveau du mal à rester sur l’ordinateur en fin de journée.
Le week-end dernier, je suis allée passer deux jours à Cold Spring avec mon amoureux. J’avais envie de m’évader un peu à moindre coût sans aller trop loin et Cold Spring s’est révélée la destination idéale. Nous ne voulions pas louer de voiture et cette petite ville de la vallée de l’Hudson est à seulement 1h30 de train de Grand Central à Manhattan (prendre la Hudson Line MTA, 40 dollars l'aller-retour maximum). L’année dernière, nous étions allés à Beacon un peu plus haut dans la vallée. Je vous prépare un article également, il est presque terminé.
Cold Spring se résume à une rue principale "Main Street" bordée d’antiquaires, de boutiques plus mignonnes les unes que les autres et de restaurants. Cela m’a permis d’exercer deux de mes grandes passions : chiner et manger ! L’autre intérêt de la ville est de pouvoir faire des balades et des randonnées avec des paysages magnifiques à portée de pied. Nous n’avons pas fait la randonnée la plus célèbre du coin nommée “Breakneck Ridge”. Je reviendrai sans doute car cela est faisable à la journée sans dormir sur place. Le mot d’ordre de ce week-end était « chill » et nous avons opté pour une balade dans une réserve naturelle : Constitution Marsh Audubon Center (je vous ai mis un lien plus bas). L’endroit est accessible à pied depuis Cold Spring. Il faut compter 40 minutes de marche pour y accéder. C’était magnifique et très paisible. Les couleurs d’automne commençaient à pointer le bout de leur nez et j’étais la plus heureuse ! J’aimerais pouvoir faire tous mes voyages en automne...
Je vous laisse regarder les photos pour vous imprégner de l’ambiance. Aux Etats-Unis, les décorations d’Halloween et autres citrouilles apparaissent dès la fin du mois de septembre. D’autres articles sur ce thème arrivent bientôt ! Je vous ai mis des liens vers les endroits que j’ai beaucoup aimés (en gras et en couleur). J’ai évidemment testé le restaurant français Le Bouchon. C’était bon mais pas comme en France... En revanche, j’ai beaucoup aimé le décor et l’accueil.

I hope you’re doing well. I haven’t posted an article in a month. At the end of August, my colleague Sebastian told me, "You’re posting so much, I can’t keep up!" I did well to take advantage of the month of August because I was very busy with back to school and I am having trouble staying on the computer at the end of the day.
Last weekend, I spent two days in Cold Spring with my boyfriend. I wanted to escape a little from the city at a lower cost, without going too far, and Cold Spring proved to be the ideal destination. We didn’t want to rent a car and this small town in the Hudson Valley is only an hour and a half by train from Grand Central (take the Hudson Line MTA, $40 maximum round trip). Last year, we went to Beacon, a little higher in the valley. I’m preparing that article for you as well, it’s almost done.
Cold Spring could be defined by its Main Street lined with antique and modern shops, and nice restaurants. This allowed me to do two things I love: shopping and eating! The other interest of the city is to be able to go on walks and hikes with beautiful landscapes. We didn’t do the most famous hike in the area called “Breakneck Ridge”. I will probably come back for that one because it is easy to do it in a day, without staying for the night. The motto of this weekend was «chill» and we opted for a walk in a nature reserve: Constitution Marsh Audubon Center (I put a link below). The place is within walking distance from Cold Spring. It takes 40 minutes to get there. It was beautiful and very peaceful. The autumn colors were starting to show up and I was the happiest! I wish I could make all my trips in the fall...
I’ll let you take a look at the pictures and soak up the atmosphere. In the United States, Halloween decorations and other pumpkins appear at the end of September. Other posts on this theme are coming soon! I put links to places I liked a lot (in bold and color). I obviously tested the French restaurant Le Bouchon. It was good but not like in France... On the other hand, I really liked the decor and the welcome.
